We offer multiple user licenses in sizes ranging from 3 to "unlimited". You can check out a sample multiple-user license agreement to see how these can be deployed compared to the single-user license agreement. Obviously, the single-user licenses are easier to handle if you are assigning the software to specific people, while the multiple-user is superior for handling student access and wider use by staff.
Most multiple user licenses are kept on "annual" update subscriptions—with the purchase of a new license, you automatically get the first year of this at no additional charge. The renewal price on the update subscription is typically 16% of the purchase price for a new license of the same size. One-off updates for older multiple user licenses are also available at a substantially higher price than the annual subscription.
In order to take advantage of the option of using time-limited Classroom RATS licenses as part of your user count (at no additional charge), you must keep your update subscription current—older versions of classroom RATS permanently expire about 18 months after release.
If you're an academic institution, another advantage of keeping your update subscription current is that your students and recent graduates can purchase their own (permanent) licenses at an even steeper discount than our standard student discount. Since the price depends upon the size of your license, contact us for details.
In general, you can add users by paying the list price difference between the size of the license you have now and the size that you want. We will also allow you to combine a set of single user licenses into a multiple user license if you find that the latter is more convenient.
You can reduce the size when you do an update. However, if you reduce the size and then later decide to increase it, you will have to pay the much higher difference in list prices, so we wouldn't recommend that unless you think it's a permanent change.
