I received the DVD today and just finishing watching it.
Being a 25 year veteran of the "iron game" - and having read John's book, Ironman Columns through the years, and watching his training DVD - I wasn't anticipating any "magic bullets" (as I so desperately sought in my youth).
Although I learned a few really good tid-bits from this DVD - the "why" of purchasing this and the "why" I enjoyed watching it so much - was to share in the sense of "self-mastery" of a contemporary; who - through years of personal discovery, hard work, and intelligent application - achieved his utmost potential. I think finding our own slice of success; while going through that often discouraging and difficult process, is as deeply satisfying in reflection as achieving the physical results.
John does not disappoint - either in quality of content or delivery of material. Just like his workout plan; the Seminar DVD starts with the basics, focuses on the fundamentals - and gradually defines the most intricate details of his full pre-contest training and nutrition program.
The editing is tight with a good assortment of graphics and charts to illustrate points - documenting various training programs - and even specific diet plans. As an appropriate dessert - the contest commentary at the end was fun treat and took me back to a time where every workout was something special, each new day brought an anticipation of progress, and enthusiasm was overflowing. You know.....just like today (25 years after I started).
John - this is certainly the most articulate and comprehensive "seminar based" DVD I have ever seen. Combined with your training DVD; its a complete package for Natural Bodybuilding success. While I am honored to be your contemporary; quite frankly I wish you and this material presentation was available 20 years ago
